The Douglas County Courthouse Art Gallery is featuring 40 works of original art by high school students in the Douglas County School System for its January exhibit. The display, entitled “Higher Ground,” contains work selected by the art teachers in the five Douglas County high schools, and include works in acrylic, ink, graphite, pencil, mixed media, oil, pastel, ceramic, collage, tempura, relief and watercolor.
The Courthouse Art Gallery is located on the third floor of the Courthouse (administration side), and is open to the public with free admission any time the Courthouse is open. The exhibit will be on display through Jan. 31.
A drop-in artists’ reception will be held for the students, their families, teachers and the public from 4:30 to 6 p.m., Tuesday, Jan. 15, in the Gallery.
The Courthouse Art Gallery is a program of the Douglas County Board of Commissioners through its Department of Communications and Community Relations.
