Chamber Singers to Perform Spring Concert on March 22
The Douglas County Chamber Singers will celebrate their 11th anniversary season with their annual Spring Concert on Friday, March 22 at the Douglasville First United Methodist Church at 8 p.m.
The Douglas County Chamber Singers will celebrate their 11th anniversary season with their annual Spring Concert on Friday, March 22 at the Douglasville First United Methodist Church at 8 p.m. The Chamber Singers is a 35-member group that values musicianship, proficiency, community spirit, diversity, and enjoyment of music. The concert will consist of several popular numbers, including: Mister Sandman, Razzle Dazzle, Puttin' on the Ritz, When I Survey the Wondrous Cross, Soft Rain, and Let Me Fly.
The Douglas County Young Singers will also perform at the concert and celebrate their third year of service to the community. The Young Singers will be performing musical selections of Sally Garden, High Hopes and As Long As I Have Music. In addition, bagpiper Robert Miller be performing several musical selections.
Robert Miller has been trained at the North American Academy of Piping, The National Piping Centre of Scotland, and by a professional piping instructor named Winter Taylor of Atlanta, Georgia. Mr. Miller is currently a member of the United States Coast Guard Pipe Band (USCGPB) and the John Mohr Mackintosh Pipes and Drums (JMMPD) in Atlanta, Georgia. As a member of the USCGPB, he played in Washington DC during Police Week 2012, in Savannah, Georgia's St Patrick's Day Parade 2012, the 250th St. Patrick's Day Parade in New York City in 2011, and the Coast Guard City USA in Grand Haven, Michigan in 2010, 2011 and 2012.

While a member of the JMMPD in 2011, 2012, Mr. Miller has played for the University of Phoenix graduation, the British Consulate of Atlanta, GA, the LaGrange College Commencement, the Taste of Scotland in Franklin, NC, and the Host Band for the 2012 Stone Mountain Highland Games. Mr. Miller has also soloed piped for weddings, anniversaries, funerals, veteran memorials, national events, Wreaths Across America, church services, local school, civic clubs and much more and also teaches piping.
The Chamber Singers is a satellite of the Cultural Arts Center of Douglasville/Douglas County and is pleased to have served our community since 2002. Under the direction of Vickie Orme, The Chamber Singers aspire to provide high quality choral music to the Douglas County community through concerts, community events, and other venues.
