One - but maybe two or three - lines of storms are going to come through Douglas County this afternoon and evening with damaging winds of up to 70 mph in places, according to Wes Tallon, director, County Communications and Community Relations.

There will be strong thunderstorms with brief heavy rain and lightning but it will be moving fast from Northwest to Southeast. The tornado threat is low, and there is no flooding threat. The line of storms will be able to be viewed on radar as it approaches, but is expected in our area from about 6 to 10 p.m.

If you have outdoor patio furniture or other lightweight objects, you may want to bring them inside or secure them in some way. If conditions warrant, we will activate the Communications Station at 911 as the storms approach to keep you informed via facebook, the County website, and email.Β
