September Saturdays in Full Swing

Enjoy the first weekend of the season enjoying the great outdoors at a festival, a farmer's market, a car show or on a hike.

1. What: Auxiliary Pizza and Salad Dinner

  • Where:
  • When: Friday, Sept. 23 at 6:30 p.m.
  • Details: The public is welcome to attend a pizza and salad dinner on Friday night. Cost to attend is $7 per person.

2. What: Eastside Hike

  • Where: Sweetwater Creek State Park
  • When: Saturday, Sept. 24 at 9 a.m.
  • Details: Take a moderate, two-mile hike to many seldom-visited sights at Sweetwater, including the “Indian Cave.” The hike will take place on the bridge-inaccessible eastside of the park. Pre-registration is required. Cost is $5 person plus $5 for parking. Hikers should meet at the Interpretive Center.

3.  What: September Saturdays Festival – Family Day + Movie

  • Where: Douglas County Courthouse
  • When: Saturday, Sept 24, from 11:45 a.m. to 6:30 p.m.; movie is at 8 p.m.
  • Details: Day two of the county’s largest festival will feature a community marketplace, food court, games, rides, fun activities, musical performances, a children’s safety fair and much more. Don’t forget to bring your lawn chair for the 8 p.m. showing of How to Train Your Dragon.

4. What: Car and Truck Show

  • Where: 5848 Bankhead Highway in Douglasville
  • When: Sunday, Sept. 25, from noon to 7 p.m.
  • Details: Come out to the car and truck show and sound competition to show off your ride and sound or to see other cool cars and trucks. The price to enter the show is $20 or $15 for the sound competition. $30 will cover entry to both.

5. What: Marietta Square Farmer’s Market

  • Where: Glover Park at Marietta Square
  • When: Sunday, Sept. 25, from 12:30 to 3:30 p.m.
  • Details: Head up to Marietta to visit over 60 vendors with locally grown fruits and vegetables, bake goods, tea, eggs, bread, jams, jelly and flowers. The market will be open come rain or shine and is open to the public.
