September Saturdays Family Day Features Kids Jamboree

September Saturdays is the largest annual festival in Douglas County.

The festival’s Community Marketplace will feature 110 vendors plus numerous exhibits and the Kids’ Jamboree.

The Kids’ Jamboree will contain a tower and rope bridge; the Farm Bureau petting zoo; pony rides; carnival ride; the Georgia AirLife 8 air ambulance helicopter; gamer trailer; the Fire Safety House; the SunTrust train; 4-H Club Water Works; pet adoptions from the Douglas County Animal Shelter; SafeKids Douglas’ Passport to Safety; inflatable games; and lots more. All festival features have free admission.

The Douglas County Sentinel stage will feature school, church and community choruses in concert every 30 minutes beginning with the Presentation of Colors by the U.S. Navy Sea Cadets, Warrior Division at noon and the National Anthem.  The Food Court will include 10 vendors including Eva’s Deli, Chick-fil-A, Buckner’s Funnel Cakes, Sydcam Italian Ice, JAM Sisters Food Truck, Shane’s Rib Shack, Johnny’s NY Style Pizza, ColdStone Creamery Ice Cream, Burke’s Grill, and Kettle Korn.

Cobb and Douglas Public Health will have its mobile emergency management center on site and will be offering $20 flu shots. The Lions Club will offer free vision screenings inside the Courthouse, and the Friends of the Douglas County library will host a used book sale in Citizen’s Hall.  The Flint Hill Masons will again offer its Computerized Child ID Program in the Courthouse Atrium.

The Community Marketplace includes arts and crafts, businesses, entrepreneurs, churches, clubs, political candidates, medical groups, clubs, and more. The festival opens at 11:45 a.m. and goes through 6 p.m. At 8 p.m., Flicks on the Bricks on the outdoor movie screen is “The Croods,” an animated family movie. Admission is ree.  Bring your own seating! The festival continues on Saturday, September 28.
