“The purpose of the exhibit is to remind people of the cost of freedom and to honor those who have given the ultimate sacrifice,” according to a county press release.

“Remembering Our Fallen” began as a family project by Bill and Evonne Williams of Omaha, Nebraska, who wanted to honor the United States military. Their four sons all served in the Armed Forces and two of them in war zones. They created an exhibit that included photographs of the Fallen who died in the War on Terror since 9/11 and were from Nebraska. Soon after the unveiling of the first display, persons in other states requested permission to create the project in and for their states. The Georgia exhibit is managed by Dan Williams.
