Our Favorite Summer Camps
It's not too early to decide how the kids are going to stay busy this summer.
- The 8th Annual Spring Break Arts Camp, held from April 4 through 8 at , this is a full week of intensive hands-on multidisciplinary arts exploration, led by expert and experienced teaching artists for children and students 7 to 11 years old. This camp is offered in partnership by the Douglas County Department of Parks and Recreation and the Fees are $75 for the first child ($60 for CAC members) with a $5 discount for siblings. - Camp D.O.U.G. (Daring Others to Undertake Greatness) 2011, is a Deer Lick Park summer camp specifically designed to meet the needs and goals of individals with disabilties. All Camp D.O.U.G. participants must schedule an intake interview with the Therapeutic Coordinator two weeks before the camp attendance date. Camp Sessions for children ages 5 to 12 are May 30 to June 10; June 13 to June 24; June 27 to July 15; and July 18 to July 29. Prices are $150 for the 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. session and $180 for the 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. session. Camp Sessions for children ages 13 and older are June 20 to June 24; June 27 to July 1; July 18 to July 22; and July 25 to July 29. Prices are $75 for the 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. session and $90 for the 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. session. For more information, call 770-920-7129.
- Project Fun Day Camp is held in two-week sessions on the following dates: May 30 to June 10; June 13 to June 24; June 27 to July 15 and July 18 to July 29. Prices are $150 per session, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. and $180 per session for 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. There is a $10 discount for second and additional children from the same household. There's a $20 early bird registration for each child paid in full from April 4 to April 29. Participants will take part in arts and crafts, nature hikes, swimming, movies and field trips to Six Flags, World of Coca-Cola, Atlanta Zoo, Noah's Ark, Movies and more.
