Mama of the Month

Meet Erin Cantrell, March's M.O.M.!

"Of all the rights of women, the greatest is to be a mother." -- Lin Yutang

Moms are very special people and should be celebrated often, so starting this month Mama Matters will feature a Mom of the Month (M.O.M.)!   Every month this column will highlight and profile a Douglasville mom that deserves a little extra recognition.

March’s M.O.M. is Erin Cantrell.  Erin’s easy-going and friendly personality is well known throughout her community.  She is a deeply committed caregiver to her family and is involved in her boys' schools.  She’s also been known to surprise under-the-weather neighbors with home cooked meals!  When she’s not chasing after her two adorable boys, Erin is a professional photographer, specializing in families and weddings.  And as if she wasn’t busy enough, she also shoots corporate portraits and freelances with a local company to shoot children's school photos. She’s passionate about her art and a true shutterbug!  Erin's photography is unique and journalistic in style, often incorporating interesting setting and props into the mix.  (She's now offering Easter mini-sessions that feature real bunnies!)

Where do you live in Douglasville: I live in Tributary

Tell us about your family:  I've been married for nine years to the man I call TP, the "total package."  He's my biggest cheerleader, confidante and all-around best friend.  He can provide some serious comic relief when I need it most.  And he's pretty cute, too.  We have two boys, Sam, age 6 and Ryan, age 4.  They're hilarious, smart, empathetic kids who stump me with questions on a daily basis–like "How do octopuses know how to control all those suckers on all EIGHT arms?"  My answer:  "magic."

Favorite activity with your family:  Hiking the trails at Sweetwater State Park.  Nothing makes me happier than seeing my boys and our dog running at top speed, burning off some serious energy.

What you do for fun:  I love to SCUBA dive with my husband, although we don't get to do it often enough.  Mostly, I love to wander around with my camera.  It allows me to see my world in a whole new light.  It's a contemplative and peaceful time for me.

We celebrate you, Erin!  You are a true M.O.M.!
