Local TV Stars on Talent Show Tuesday

These are the five things you need to know today, July 21.

  1. Local TV Stars. Two of Douglasville's very own residents will be performing on America's Got Talent Tuesday, the Captain & Maybelle. The Captain has had a love for sideshow and circus entertainment since his youth. After graduating high school, he set out from his hometown of Douglasville and explored the country. He's fulfilling his childhood dream of being a circus performer and using his skills as a body piercer in his act. While most wives would balk at the thought, Maybelle not only gave her blessing but also jumped in feet first alongside the Captain and became part of his act. The Captain and his wife Maybelle currently reside in Georgia with their two daughters, Payton and Ava, and their basset hound, Hoss. Check them out on NBC’s America's Got Talent Tuesday at 9 p.m.
  2. Golf & Tennis Classic is set for Sept. 21 at Mirror Lake Golf & Country Club. Early Bird player registration will be until July 29 at 5 p.m.  Golfers may register as a team or as an individual. Tennis players will be paired with doubles partners based on skills and compete in a Round Robin tournament. There will also be a raffle for $1000 in chamber member restaurant gifts cards.   3. Zumiez coming to . Projected to
    open in November, the store will occupy more than 3,200 square feet of retail space.  Zumiez provides customers with cutting edge clothing, footwear, accessories, DVDs and hard goods for skate and snow for active lifestyles. Zumiez made their debut in the Seattle area in 1978 and has now grown to more than 400 retail stores reaching across the United States.
  4. Also coming to Arbor Place Mall and marked for a Fall opening is Express, the sixth largest specialty retail brand of women’s and men’s apparel in the United States. Offering a distinct combination of fashion and quality for multiple lifestyle occasions at an attractive value, the Arbor Place Express store will occupy 7,683 square feet of retail space.
