Informational Meeting Today on Possible Sports Complex

These are the five things you need to know today, April 12.

  1. Dougalsville Sports Village-Pre-development Information Meeting will be held today from 4 to 5 p.m. at the , 6658 Church St., in order to deliver the presentation of the plans for a unique Indoor Event Venue for Youth Sports in Douglasville. The Community First Sports Foundation seeks to develop a Youth Sports Village in Douglasville, Douglas County.
  2. On April 28, Georgia will be one of 10 states participating in The Great Central U.S. ShakeOut, the largest earthquake drill ever organized in the region. Already more than 115,000 Georgia residents have signed up for the ShakeOut, when they will practice “Drop, Cover and Hold On”–drop to the ground, take cover under a sturdy desk or table and hold on until the shaking stops. To participate, go to GEMA’s Ready Georgia campaign Website at www.ready.ga.gov. Registration is free and includes information on how to plan the drill and communicate with others about earthquake preparedness.
  3. "Primary Colors" Exhibit Opens in the Courthouse Gallery today, from 4:30 to 6 p.m. The Opening Reception will be held on the third floor of the Douglas County Courthouse. The event is open to the public with free admission. Primary Colors features the art of elementary school students in the Douglas County School System and will be on view through April 28. This is a program of the Douglas County Board of Commissioners through its Department of Communications and Community Relations.
  4. The Douglas County Schools Soccer Championship will also be today, starting at 5:30 p.m., at , 5000 Highway 92/166. The championship will feature Turner Middle School vs. Chapel Hill Middle School, price of admission is $4.
  5. Douglas Hill Road has reopened and is open to all traffic.
