High School Musicals Abound

Family-centric events include beloved musical, walk-a-thon and an Easter/Spring concert.

“YO, HUNGRY WOLF!”

When: Thursday - Saturday, March 17 to 19, 7 p.m. (performances continue March 24 to 26)

Why go: A recent study into arts education indicates that going to the theatre can improve children’s literacy and social skills.  What better reason is there to take your kids to live theatre?

“WEST SIDE STORY”

When: Friday - Sunday, March 18 to 20, 7 p.m., Friday and Saturday, 3 p.m. Sunday (performances continue March 25 to 27)

Why go: This well-known musical is a must-see for kids over 12 years of age

WALK-A-THON FOR FAMILIES

When: Saturday, March 19, 9 a.m.

Why go: This community-gathering event is resented by the Higher Standards Foundation to foster increased family togetherness/involvement, promote physical fitness, and strive for a higher standard of living.

 “CHAT WITH THE CHAIRMAN” with Commission Chairman Tom Worthan

When: Monday, March 21,  6 to 7 p.m.

Why go: Give the kids a valuable civics lesson by taking them to meet one of their elected officials in person.

Price: Free, open to public

EASTER/SPRING CONCERT

When: Tuesday, March 22, 8 p.m.

Where: , Mashburn Theatre, 8705 Campbellton Street

Why go:  Presented by the West Atlanta/Douglas Choral Society, Inc. featuring the WADCS Chorale, WADCS Chamber Singers, Georgia Boy Choir, WADCS Musical Collage, and more.
