Donate Blood or Tour the New Police Station

There's a wide range of things to do in Douglasville this weekend.

It’s Thursday, and you’ve got no idea what you’ll do for the weekend.

Patch is coming to the rescue. We’ve got the best bets for your done-work-outta-here time.

1 Blood Drive for the Red Cross
Where/When: The Douglas County Courthouse, Thursday, from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. in Citizen's Hall. Walk in or make an appointment at 1-800-Red Cross.
Why Go: Because one pint of blood saves up to three lives. And you haven't done anything nice for anyone in a while anyway.
Pricing: You get paid cookies and character!

2. Junior League's Ritzy Rummage Sale
Where/When: At the new Hunter Park Community Center, on Saturday, from 8 a.m. to noon. There will be a Preview Sale on Friday from 6 to 8 p.m.
Why Go: All proceeds go the benefit the Junior League's services to women, children and seniors. Contact Donna Palmire.
Pricing: $5

3. Guided Tours of the New Police Department and Municipal Court Buildings
Where/When: Douglasville Police Department and Municipal Court Buildings are on Fairburn Road, one mile east of Interstate 20. Tours are being held Saturday, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. and Sunday, from 2 to 6 p.m.
Why Go:  A civics lesson is always a good thing and this is a unique opportunity to go “behind the scenes” of Douglasville's newest municipal buildings. Besides, you want to know how your tax-payer dollars are being spent.
Pricing: Free

 4. Bring in Pennies for Police Service Dogs (and get your child to ask the neighbors too)
Where/When: Douglas County Courthouse (16 buckets are set up). Anytime the Courthouse is open from Monday through Friday.
Why Go:  You'll chase away K-9 Cancer and honor the lives of service police dogs.
Pricing: You'll get paid with that rewarding feeling you helped the Douglas County Sheriff’s Department’s k-9 unit and all those lucky pooches.
