Country Fry Fundraiser

  • When: Friday, 6:30 p.m.
  • Where: American Legion Post 145, 6449 Veterans Memorial Highway
  • Why go: Bring the entire family to this fun night, which benefits veterans programs.
  • Price: $7 per person

Book Collection and Book Sale for the Dog River Library

  • When: Saturday, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
  • Where: Parking lot in front of , 6880 Douglas Boulevard
  • Why go: Get great deal on books at this sale to benefit the new Dog River Library. (.50/paperbacks and $1 to $3 hardbacks.) Bring a donation of new/gently used books for the library collection, and used books for re-sale to benefit the library.

Paint Your Own Pottery Fundraiser for the West Georgia SPCA

Geology Hike

  • Where: Sweetwater Creek State Park 
  • Why go: Geologist and "Friends of Sweetwater Creek State Park" member John Johnston will lead a moderate 2-mile hike identifying rock types and explaining how they formed. There will also be a visit inside the ruins of the Civil War era New Manchester Mill alongside the beautiful rapids of Sweetwater Creek.
