  2. Douglasville Patch is conducting our first-ever poll and want you to participate. We have assembled a list of announced and possible candidates running for Mayor of Douglasville this November; and should Douglasville allow package sales of alcohol on Sundays?. There are only three questions. The poll will end at 5 p.m., May 6 and we will announce the results shortly afterward. Click here to vote: http://patch.com/buUMp.
  3. Looking for Local Voices. We're hoping to add a new voice to Douglasville Patch: yours. We’re about to roll out a new look for the site in preparation for an important addition next week called Local Voices. It will be a place to see the latest headlines from blogs in our area and, more important, a place for you and anyone else in Douglasville to express your thoughts and opinions about anything and everything going on around us. If all of that sounds good to you, if you’re eager for an audience for what you have to say, email john.barker@patch.com today.
  4. This year's Air Quality Awareness Week will be May 2 through 6.  The Clean Air Campaign will work to educate Georgia about the health effects of air pollution. With the onset of warmer weather in Georgia, combined with sunshine and stagnant winds, create ideal conditions for ground-level ozone to form, a main component of smog.  Air Quality Awareness Week is a reminder that Georgia residents and businesses can take actions to make a difference in the air we breathe. Each day, these programs reduce 1.4 million miles of vehicle travel and keep 700 tons of pollution out of the air we breathe. For more information, call 1-877-CLEANAIR (1-877-253-2624) or visit CleanAirCampaign.org.
  5. The Clean Air Campaign, together with the region’s eight transportation management associations, RideSmart and GDOT, has issued a call for entries for the annual PACE Awards. The PACE Awards recognize and celebrate the success of employers, property managers, schools and individuals in advancing the promise of cleaner air and less traffic. Award entry forms are now available at The Clean Air Campaign’s website, CleanAirCampaign.org, or by calling 1-877-CLEANAIR (1-877-253-2624).
