Free Mulch Available after Christmas Tree Chipper Event

Free mulch is available to Douglas County residents after more than 450 trees were collected at the recent "Bring One for the Chipper" event.

By Chan Weeks, Keep Douglasville Beautiful Executive Director

I would like to thank everyone who participated in this year’s twenty-third annual Christmas tree recycling event, “Bring One for the Chipper” this past Saturday, Jan. 5 at the Home Depot. Keep Douglasville Beautiful and the City of Douglasville sponsored the event locally. The statewide sponsors included the Keep Georgia Beautiful Foundation, Home Depot, WXIA-TV, the Davey Tree Expert Company, and Earth911.com

By recycling your Christmas tree, you helped to protect and enhance our environment. Our community collected more than 450 trees and handed out vegetable seed packets courtesy of Ferry-Morse Seed Company. Some of your trees were dropped into lakes for fish habitat. Others were chipped into mulch to be used in city parks, on school grounds or even some of your own backyards. Mulch is available free to residents and can be arranged by calling 770-920-3005.
