Free Haircuts, Road Closures

These are the five things you need to know today, Aug. 11.

  1. Free haircuts. Rodney Elrod is sponsoring free hair cuts at on Aug. 18 from 3 to 7 p.m. to anyone who needs a cut.  For more information, call 404-391-1606.
  2. Learn about and join the Girl Scouts at the Deerlick Park Gym on Aug. 20, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. The Girl Scouts are currently accepting girls from Kindergarten to Seniors. Also accepting adults who can volunteer to continue to strengthen the experience of these girls. Come learn what troops have to offer and see what activities they have set up at their tables.   3. The S. River Rd. Bridge is will be closed until further notice, effective immediately. For more information, contact the Douglas County Department of Transportation at 770-920-4932.
  4. South River Rd. at the Bridge will also be closed, effective immediately, due to structural damage to the bridge. The damage is still being assessed  in order to determine the full extent.   5. is gearing up for its Third Annual Paws-an-Effect Dog Show fundraiser and the public is invited to become involved in this pawsitively spectacular event The dog show will be held Saturday, Oct. 15 from 9 a.m. until 1 p.m. at the . Last year’s event was a great success with more than 200 in attendance. This year, we are expecting a crowd double that amount. Event vendors will also market their goods or services at the show. We are also looking for businesses to serve as the dog show’s official vendors for our micro-chipping clinic, obedience training station and dog grooming salon.
