Foods to Enjoy Making, Eating with Kids

Cooking with your children is a fun, bonding experience.

I dislike the word foodie, but I must admit that it’s often used to describe me.  I love cooking, eating, creating recipes and it seems my kids have caught the foodie bug too.  One of the most important ways we connect as a family is in the kitchen, creating a meal together and enjoying it together. Here’s where I go to get ideas and inspiration for foods that kids will love making and eating:

The Toddler Café – This blog’s tag line is “Fast, Healthy and Fun Ways to Feed Even the Pickiest Eater!” and it doesn’t disappoint.  None of the recipes are complicated and all of the ones we tried are incredibly tasty.   I love the fun, simple idea of making a healthy wrap using a cooked lasagna noodle! (Layer favorite ingredients like cheese, sliced meats and lettuce onto noodle, roll up and secure with toothpick.)

Cooking with my Kid – This clever blogger mom set out to teach her kids (and herself) the art of cooking by creating 365 days of kid-assisted meals in just 365 days.  It’s not a gimmick; she’s the real deal.  The recipes and tips are easy, fun and manageable, even for a busy parent like me.

Foodie Tots – This blog takes more an organic, locavore approach to food, encouraging readers to source items locally and to use real, healthy ingredients.  You’ll find wonderful “meatless” recipes on this site, and also info on CSAs (community support agriculture) and growing your own veggies!  (Now that’s local!)

Weelicious – I stumbled across this site while I was looking for a recipe and immediately bookmarked it for future use.  Visit this site for a wide variety of recipes that are kid-tested and approved including carrot, broccoli and cheese orzo.
