Bingo!
- When: Saturday, May 14 (Doors open at 4 p.m., food available at 6:30. Bingo from 7:30 p.m. to approximately 10 p.m.)
- Where: Frank P. Dorris American Legion Post 145, 6449 Bankhead Hwy
- Why go: Yelling “Bingo!” can be a thrill. Doors open at 4 p.m. so you can scope out the best table before the fun starts. Burgers and hot dogs and more are available for purchase. (I hear the peach cobbler is outstanding.) Non-alcoholic beverages, wine coolers and beer also for sale.

- Where: Sweetwater Creek State Park
- Why go: This is your chance to visit beautiful and seldom-visited areas of the park's eastern side, including the bridge-inaccessible Yellow Trail. Warning: This hike is not for the faint-at-heart. It’s 3.5 miles and is rated strenuous.
- Price: $6/person; $5/parking. (Annual state park passes are $50. Free passes are available at and can be checked out for up to one week at a time.)
