Egg Hunts Abound This Weekend!

Family-friendly activities around Douglasville include a fun run, egg hunts, a butterfly hike and car, motorcycle and dog show.

Humane Society Car, Motorcycle and Dog Show

When: Saturday, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Price: Open to the public, free admission. $20 per vehicle entry fee for car show, $15 entry fee for motorcycles.

Easter Family Fun Day at

When: Saturday, from 2 p.m.

Where: 5901 Georgia Highway 5 at Giles Road, one mile south of the Dog River

Why go: Get an early hop on Easter festivities with an egg hunt for children of all ages, plus cupcake bar, face-painting and crafts.

Price: Free Admission, Open to the Public

Woodland Butterfly Hike

When: Saturday, from 2 to 4 p.m.

Where: Sweetwater Creek State Park

Why go: Spring is a great time of year to see butterflies and we’ve got the perfect spot! This two-mile hike will cover the Red Trail up to the mill, then the Blue Trail back to the Interpretive Center. Bring a camera or close-focus binoculars for memories that will last a lifetime.

Price: $5/person, plus $5/parking

2nd Annual Run for a Child 5K and 1-mile Fun Run to Benefit A Gift of Love

When: Saturday.  The 1 Mile Fun Run is at 3 p.m. The 5K begins at 4 p.m. (Walkers welcome!)

Why go: is a non-profit that provides book bags, school supplies, clothing, food backpacks and more to kids in Douglas County who have nothing.

Eggstravaganza!

When: Sunday at 2 p.m.

Why go: The Biggest Easter Egg Hunt in Douglas County! This hunt is organized in ascending age categories (2 -4 with parents, 5 - 6, 7 - 8, 9 - 10, 11 - 12, adaptive) and features prize eggs, candy, face painting, and a visit from the Easter Bunny! 

Price: Free admission, 0pen to the public
