Douglasville Olympian to Give Keynote Speech at DeVry Commencement

Elana Meyers-Taylor will speak to the importance of perseverance and determination.

Elana Meyers-Taylor, two-time Olympic medalist, will deliver the keynote address at DeVry University’s commencement ceremony on Sunday, July 20 at 1 p.m.

More than 500 graduates will be conferred at the Arena at Gwinnett Center in Duluth, where Meyers-Taylor will speak to the importance of perseverance and determination.

Meyers-Taylor, a Douglasville native, earned a silver medal in the two-woman bobsled at the 2014 Olympic Winter Games in Sochi, Russia, and a bronze in the same event at the 2010 Winter Games in Vancouver, British Columbia.

The Douglasville native is currently training with Team USA’s women’s rugby team in preparation for the 2016 Olympic Summer Games in Rio de Janeiro.

Aside from being an amazing athlete, Meyers-Taylor is also a dedicated student. She holds a master’s degree in sports management and a bachelor’s degree in exercise science, and is currently pursuing her MBA in finance at DeVry University’s Keller Graduate School of Management.
