Douglasville Moms Weigh In

Where are the best local places for a family dinner?

Mom Talk question:

Family dinners are a great time to reconnect with kids after a long day but sometimes Moms need a break from cooking.  Where is the best place to have a family dinner in Douglasville?

Heather Beachy, Douglasville mom of two girls, ages 2 1/2 and 4 - Our favorite spot is . We almost never miss their Wednesday night Family Special: $20 gets you a large 2-topping pizza, a big salad or my kid’s favorite—garlic knots, and 4 non-alcoholic beverages. The deal is great, the staff is attentive and fun, there are lot's of various-sized booths (a family-friendly bonus) and you can't beat a place that has paper and crayons on the table ready to keep the whole family entertained. Two great bonuses: be sure to have a few pennies in your pocket or purse so the kids can make wishes at the fountain on the way to and from Fabiano's, and keep an eye out for the train—it's fun to watch and make up stories about who or what is on the train wonder where it's going (another great way to keep kids distracted at the table if Fabiano's is a bit busy).

Heather Bennett, Douglasville mom of three boys, ages 10, 6 and 5 - We love the in downtown Douglasville. It's a great place for a date or to take our boys.  The food is always tasty, the atmosphere is relaxed and the staff is always very friendly and helpful.  We especially like going there when the weather is nice and eating out on the patio while listening to live Celtic or Jazz music.

Gloria Bath, Douglasville mom to a girl, age 5 - Last summer we discovered on Chapel Hill.  Olivia gets her chicken nuggets and fruit and David and I get our frosty alcoholic beverage.  We usually sit next to the big window that looks out over the playground and we watch Olivia play with other children. Often, this turns into "mom and dad time" - David and I get the opportunity to talk with each other without having to entertain the little one.  Olivia also likes when the servers "break it down" about ever 30 minutes and do their group dance to fun music (Olivia will often join in), there is even a disco ball and colorful lights!

Minde Herbert, Douglasville mom of boy/girl twin 5-year olds - We were big fans of the Mellow Mushroom on Hwy 5 and were so disappointed when it closed.  Now we have something else to look forward to: Oz Pizza (of East Point) will open a Douglasville location in The Village Retail Center of Tributary (on Riverside Parkway) very soon!  They just received their pouring license from the city so we’ll be able to enjoy beer with our meal!  Fave menu items will be available at the “Trib” location like calzones, lasagna, salads, and a really nice choice of creative pizzas such as the “Hercules and the “Oz Special.”  It’ll be nice to have a nearby place that will offer foods that the entire family will enjoy.  (Maybe we can convince then to host a weekly Trivia Night!)
