Property owners can sign up for free automatic alerts through text or e-mail message if someone takes a mortgage out on the land or house, or puts a lien or some other restraint on it.

Many people do not realize that a third party can attach a lien or other restraint to your property without your permission or knowledge. Land owners may not find out about it until you try to re-finance or sell your property.

Property Check will give owners notifications of any attachments so that - if the attachment is without their approval - law enforcement can be contacted and involved at the initial stage of the fraud.

The County’s web site is www.CelebrateDouglasCounty.com and the Property Check link is on the Clerk of Superior Court’s page. The Property Check service is free and the notifications are also free.
