Courtney Watts Earns Softball Scholarship

Our Patch Whiz Kid of the Week turns a stellar softball career at Chapel Hill High School into a scholarship at Southern Union Community College.

  • Accomplishment: Earned a full softball scholarship

Key to Awesomeness: Courtney earned a full softball scholarship to Southern Union Community College in Wadley, AL., after having a stellar softball career at . She led the team with six home-runs, as a pitcher and middle infielder. Her father began coaching her when she was just five or six years old. Courtney would like to study either sport medicine with an ultimate goal in physical therapy, or study journalism and write for a magazine. She credits her three high school coaches with her success, Nick Harper, Zach Graham and Bobby Nail.

"I'm going to miss my friendships," she said. "They're like a springboard to the future that can never be broken. I love the game but without the friendships it's just playing softball and it would get pretty boring."
