Cruise Car Show; Meet Candidates

Enjoy the great weather with outdoor events or get involved in local politics.

1. What: Amateur Classic American Car Show

  • Where: Courthouse Square East, downtown Douglasville
  • When: Saturday, Oct. 8,Β 7 p.m.
  • Details: There will be 40 entries of classic American makes and models. Admission is free. The car registration fee (advance) is $20, $25 day of event (if space available).

2. What: Class of 1986 - 25th Class Reunion

  • Where:
  • When: Saturday, Oct. 8, from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m.
  • Details: $60 per person

3. What: 3rd Annual Remember Earl Ride and Event at Stockmar Airport

  • Where: Harley Davidson Cartersville and Earl Small Harley of Marietta
  • When: Sunday, Oct. 9, 10:30 a.m.
  • Details: Escorted ride to the airport. Cost is $15 per bike, $10 per car. The event includes motorcycles, classic cars, live music, free airplane rides (ages 8 - 17).

4. What: "Last Chance" Triathlon at and Aquatic Center

  • Where: Sweetwater Creek State Park
  • When: Sunday, Oct. 9, 8 a.m. Start
  • Details: Events include a 3-mile trail run, 12-mile bike ride, 1/4-mile indoor swim. Individuals in age groups and teams are accepted. The cost is $70 for individuals and $140 per team.

5. What:Β  Douglasville Mayoral Candidates Forum

  • Where: The Village at Tributary, 2065 Riverside Parkway
  • When: Sunday, Oct. 9 at 1 p.m.
  • Details: This is an opportunity for the community to meet the candidates and learn about the issues. This family-friendly event is open to all in Douglasville who would like to become more informed in order to make a better decision on election day, Nov. 8. Interested citizens are encouraged to email their questions for the candidates in advance to DouglasvilleDecision2011@yahoo.com, an email address set up specifically for this purpose. Open to the public, admission is free.
