CAC Solicits Artists for Upcoming Show

The Cultural Arts Council of Douglasville/Douglas County is soliciting artists for the 2013 NOVAS, submission deadline, Sept. 13.

For the 2013 National Open Visual Arts Show, every artist who submits images to the exhibition is guaranteed to have at least one of their works selected for display during November. All work submitted will be received and reviewed by the Cultural Arts Center's Gallery Committee, which will determine which artwork (or as space allows, as many as three works) by each artist will be displayed during the national show. Members of the Gallery Committee will also award prizes to participating prizes; the number and amount of prizes remains the same as those given for the previous juried exhibitions. The deadline for the submission of artworks is Sept. 13, whether hand-delivered or mailed.

The show dates are Nov. 3 through Nov. 27. The cost is $40, $30 for CAC members.

Since 1986, the Cultural Arts Center, listed on the National Register of Historic Places, has presented hundreds of exhibitions of works by more than 2,000 artists.  After twenty-five years of great success with its annual National Juried Art Exhibition, the Cultural Arts Council of Douglasville/Douglas County, Inc. decided to change course in 2012 and to present its first national unjuried exhibition. As did the National Juried Art Exhibition for 25 years, the Second National Open Visual Arts Show (NOVAS) will also promote an appreciation of the visual arts, enable artists to exhibit their works, and allow local citizens to enjoy a wide variety of high-quality art from around the country.

The Cultural Arts Council of Douglasville/Douglas County is located at 8652 Campbellton Street in historic downtown Douglasville, Georgia, located about 20 miles from Atlanta and just off I-20 (exit 36). Hours of operation are Mondays through Fridays, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.  The Cultural Arts Council and its exhibitions at the Cultural Arts Center are supported by its members, sponsors, the City of Douglasville, the Douglas County Board of Commissioners, and the Georgia Council for the Arts through the appropriations of the Georgia General Assembly.  Georgia Council for the Arts also receives support from its partner agency, the National Endowment for the Arts which believes a great nation deserves great art.
