The Board of Directors of the Cultural Arts Council of Douglasville/Douglas County announced that it has accepted the retirement notice of Laura Lieberman last month, who has served its Executive Director since January 2003.
The Board of Directors is currently searching for a new executive director. The following is a position description.
The CAC Executive Director furthers the mission of the Cultural Arts Council -- to nurture, guide and stimulate the enjoyment of and participation in the arts among Douglas County residents and visitors –through the administration and development of its programming, funding, staff and board. As the senior full-time staff leader of the Cultural Arts Council of Douglasville and Douglas County, Inc., he or she supervises the Cultural Arts Council staff, volunteers, and the development and implementation of all programming, special events and activities, and is responsible for all administrative matters and programming related to the operations of the historic house and arts center as well as community outreach of all kinds. He or she represents the Cultural Arts Council in a wide variety of public and private settings and partnerships including with government agencies, non-profit agencies, media outlets and the press, elected officials, corporate and individual patrons, volunteers, members and general public.
Qualifications: Five years of experience as the executive director or a senior staffer with a non-profit organization, preferably an arts or cultural organization. Bachelor’s degree required; master’s degree related to non-profit management preferred. Excellent written, editorial and oral communication skills; ability to resolve routine problems efficiently and effectively; advanced computer software proficiency including Microsoft Office, Powerpoint, Publisher, internet and web-based communications, and e-mail management. Must be detail-oriented with budget development and fiscal management experience, and grantsmanship, record-keeping and data tracking skills. Expertise in long-term strategic planning, gallery operations, performing arts management, and arts education programming development helpful. Knowledge of arts education, visual, performing and literary arts with an understanding of community-based programming development essential.
Full-time. Position closes October 30th. Salary range: $40,000 to 45,000 per year based on experience and education.
