Bulls Come Up Short; Free Jazzercise

These are the five things you need to know today, Aug. 8.

  1. Congratulations to the Douglasville Bulls. Despite losing two out of three games to the Berkeley Lake Tides in the Sunbelt League Championship series on Saturday, the Bulls had a great season, finishing with a 25-4 record. Come back to Dougalsville Patch at 11 a.m. today to see a photo gallery featuring the Bulls.
  2. will offer a citywide free-for-all Jazzercise Open House from Aug. 15 to 21 at the Jazzercise center, located at 9459 Hwy 5 in the Douglas Corner Shopping Center near Jo-ann Fabrics. Open house festivities will include information on the Jazzercise program and a free workout. Admission is free to everyone, and participants should dress to exercise.
  3. Douglas County Chamber Singers and Young Singers Now are currently holding auditions for the upcoming concert season. The Douglas County Chamber Singers (adult choral) and Young Singers (ages 9 to 17) are now holding auditions for their tenth concert season. Auditions can be scheduled by calling Vickie Orme at 770-489-0503 or Andrea Tingen at 678-403-1163.
  4. Cobb and Douglas Public Health are currently offering flu shots to businesses and agencies. Cobb and Douglas Public Health wants to ensure that employees are protected from the flu this year, and will come to your business or agency to give flu shots. The cost of the flu shot is $20 per person, and Public Health can bill insurance for agencies whose employees are covered by the State Health Benefit Plan. Call Karla Ayers at the Douglas County Health Center at 770-949-1970 to schedule your employees to get flu shots this season.
  5. Nathan Mitchell has been named the Douglas County Chief Deputy Coroner. Douglas County Coroner Randy Daniel has appointed Nathan Mitchell to the post effective immediately. Mitchell, a life-long resident of Douglas County, recently completed his State of Georgia Coroner Certification Classes, and has been certified by the Georgia Governor's Training Council.
