Administrative Appointments Made for Douglas County Schools

Monte Beaver has been named the Area Director.

Monte Beaver Named Area Director

Monte Beaver has been named by the to be Area Director in the Student Achievement and Leadership Department in the Central Office effective July 1. His last position was principal of , a position he held since 2005.

“It has been my privilege, as an administrator, to work with teachers to give them the support, guidance, and resources they need to be successful and help students achieve,” said Beaver. “The chance as an Area Director to work with different schools in helping them set goals and work to meet those goals is a challenge I embrace.”

An employee of the Douglas County School System for the last 26 years, Beaver has held the following Assistant Principal positions: , 1999-2005; Lithia Springs High School, 1998-1999; and, 1997-1998. He taught at Lithia Springs High School, 1987-1998, and Alexander High School, 1987-1997.

Beaver’s education credentials include M.Ed, Educational Leadership and Ed.S, Social Science, from Georgia State University and M.Ed, Social Science, and B.A., History from the University of Georgia.  

“It is very difficult to leave a wonderful place like Fairplay but I am very excited by this new challenge,” Beaver continued. “I am humbled and flattered by the confidence Dr. Pritz and Dr. Magouyrk have shown in me and I see this as an awesome opportunity to serve as a support for the principals, teachers, and students in the 17 schools in my area.

Yvonne Kidney Named Principal

Yvonne Kidney has been named Principal of Fairplay Middle School effective July 18, by the Douglas County Board of Education. She is currently Principal of , a position she has held since 2000.

“It has been a privilege to be a part of the Chapel Hill Elementary School community and I am very proud of the great things CHES has accomplished through its partnerships with parents, teachers and children,” said Kidney. “This community is really dedicated to the success of this school and its children. I will miss being a part of these families."
 
Kidney’s other administrative experience includes Instructional Lead Teacher, Mt. Carmel Elementary School, 1997-2000; Assistant Principal, , 1994-1997; and Administrative Assistant, , 1992-1994. She taught at Douglas County High School, 1992-1994, and McNair Junior High School, DeKalb County, 1987-1992.

Her education credentials include: Ed.S and M.Ed., Administration and Supervision, University of West Georgia, and Bachelor’s degree, Shorter College.

"I live in the Fairplay community and look forward to serving the families here," said the new principal. “I consider myself honored to be associated with a school with such a rich history and tradition."

Robert Blevins Named Chapel Hill Elementary School Principal

The Douglas County Board of Education has named Robert Blevins to be Principal of Chapel Hill Elementary School effective July 18. He has been Assistant Principal at Chapel Hill Elementary since 2003 and taught fourth and fifth grade at from 1988-2003.

“I have been fortunate to be a part of the Douglas County School System for twenty-three years as a teacher and assistant principal,” Blevins said. “I am very excited about the opportunity to continue to serve my community as principal of Chapel Hill Elementary.  I already know I will be working with a great group of caring teachers and will have tremendous parental support and involvement.  I am looking forward to building on the successes we have experienced at Chapel Hill.”

Blevins’ educational credentials include Ed.S, Educational Leadership, Lincoln Memorial University; Educational Leadership Endorsement, Jacksonville State University; Teacher Support Specialist Endorsement, West Georgia College; M.Ed., Early Childhood Education, West Georgia College; and B.S., Middle Grades Education, University of Georgia.

Sean Roach Named Chapel Hill Elementary School Assistant Principal

Sean Roach has been named by the Douglas County Board of Education to be Assistant Principal of Chapel Hill Elementary School effective July 18. He has been Assistant Principal at since 2009 and previously served as Assistant Principal at Stewart Middle School, 2006 to 2009.

“It is with great anticipation that I look forward to the 2011-2012 school year,” said Roach.  “While I will miss Mason Creek Middle, I wish the staff there much success.  I am sure that the new opportunity to experience the elementary climate at Chapel Hill Elementary will be challenging.  However, as an educational professional who has only worked with middle and high school students, I welcome the chance to work with younger students.”

Roach’s educational credentials include: Educational Specialist, Education Leadership, Lincoln Memorial University; Educational Leadership Certificate, Troy State University; M.S., Clark-Atlanta University; and B.S., Benedict College.

Jeffrey Henderson Named Assistant Principal at Lithia Springs High School

The Douglas County Board of Education has named Jeffrey Henderson Assistant Principal of Lithia Springs High School effective July 1. Henderson has been a Graduation Coach at Chapel Hill High School since 2007 and taught at the school from 2002-2007.
His educational credentials include: Ed.S, Education Leadership, and M.Ed., Education Leadership, University of West Georgia and B.A., Northern Kentucky University.

“I am very excited about becoming an assistant principal at Lithia Springs High School,” Henderson said. “I have worked in the Douglas County School System for my entire career at Chapel Hill High School. During the last nine years I have worked with some great people who have helped prepare me for this position. I am very happy to have the opportunity to be an assistant principal, while staying in the county that I love to work for. I look forward to starting work very soon as a Lion.”

Dr. Larry Moore Named Assistant Principal at

Dr. Larry Moore has been named by the Douglas County Board of Education to be an Assistant Principal at New Manchester High School effective July 18. He previously served as a Principal at Dublin Middle School, 2008-2010, and Americus Sumter High School, 2006-2008. Dr. Moore was Assistant Principal at East Coweta High School, 2002-2006, and Smokey Road Middle School, 1998-2002. He has taught in Wilkinson, Coweta, and Floyd Counties.

“I am pleased to be joining Douglas County School System,” said Moore. “This is a quality school system and I look forward to helping Mrs. Craft, the administrative team, staff and students make New Manchester into an excellent high school.”

Moore’s educational credentials include: Ed.D, Education Leadership, Nova Southeastern University; Ed.S, Administration and Supervision, State University of West Georgia; and M.S., Science, and B.S., Education, Jacksonville State University.
