A Life Worth Reading

This little known, little lady has a big life.

What do Ronald Reagan, Shirley Temple and Eva Gabor all have in common, other than being Hollywood bigwigs? They are all colorful threads in the tapestry which is the life of Jeanne Morgan. And who is Jeanne Morgan? She is Douglasville's own feisty red-head and perhaps one of the most interesting people you could ever meet.

Jeanne is working on her life story, accompanied by a massive scrapbook, and as I looked over her handwritten pages, I saw her life playing in my head like an epic drama. Traveling as a child with her fathers eleven piece orchestra, working on the set with Shirley Temple and singing on the radio where Ronald Reagan got his broadcasting start. Born on July 1, 1926, she has led a very interesting and adventure filled life.  She married her first love at age fifteen, until her mother found out, and her last and greatest love Bob Morgan, who she settle with here in Douglasville.

She worked as a hairdresser, in a department store, in an aircraft plant sanding unknown metal parts for 75 cents an hour (which was good money at the time), to her most recent job at , across from ... that was the Garden Ridge, before it was Old Time Pottery, before it was Garden Ridge. Go figure! But now she's retired.

The working title for her memoirs is “For What it's Worth, it's My Life!” I have always believed that everyone has at least one story worth telling... even from the little I saw, I can tell you Jeanne Morgan has a life worth reading.
