Douglasville
Artist Featured in 2014 National Watercolor Society Traveling Exhibit

Marsha Chandler,
a watercolorist from Douglasville, is being featured in the 2014 National
Watercolor Society Traveling Exhibition.  In November 2013, her painting, Pear Mosaic, was one of only 84
paintings juried into the 93rd Annual NWS Exhibition out of a total
of 933 submissions. As the recipient of the Watercolor Magazine award, Ms.
Chandler was offered one of approximately 30 spots in the highly selective traveling
exhibit.

The NWS
Traveling Exhibit opened earlier this month at the Fallbrook Arts Center in
California.  From there, the exhibit will
travel to galleries and museums throughout the United States in Virginia,
Wyoming, Iowa, and Illinois. For specific tour details, please visit the
National Watercolor Society website at http://nationalwatercolorsociety.wildapricot.org/Default.aspx?pageId=1677401.

Each
fall, the National Watercolor Society, headquartered in San Pedro, California,
chooses a select group of paintings to include in its annual traveling exhibit.
Since its start in 1925, the NWS Traveling Exhibition has identified numerous emerging
artists who have gone on to become internationally celebrated watercolorists,
like Edward Hopper, Andrew Wyeth, Cheng Khee Chee, and John Salminen.

“Ms.
Chandler’s watercolor painting entitled Pear Mosaic…[is] a strong composition
that place(s) major emphasis on the elements and principles of design.  Her interlinking, simple shapes, harmonious
balance of color, and strong contrasting values create a tremendous amount of
impact …in a very pleasing and graceful manner.
It was without question that her watercolor was representative of the
award winning paintings in this very prestigious and competitive exhibition.”--Frederick
C. Graff AWS, NWS, TWSA (Master Status), Selection and Awards Judge, Southern
Watercolor Society Exhibition
