It's Election Day

Douglas County polling locations are open from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. today.

Today's election includes the Special Election for the Clerk of Superior Court, and the regular election of City Council members in Douglasville (Ward 1 - Ward 2, Post 1 - and Ward 3) and Villa Rica (Ward 4 - Ward 5). Polling locations are open from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. today.

Republican candidate Tammy M. Howard, will face off against Democrat Annetta Danley Stembridge in the election for Douglas County Clerk of Superior Court.
 
Jay Smith, a former Doulgasville Police Department detective, is running for City Council against Mayor Pro Tem Larry Lockey for the Ward 1 seat.

Local attorney and former school board member Mike Miller is running for Douglasville City Council against Dennis McLain for for the Ward 2 Post 1 seat.

Some City of Douglasville voters will have to go to two different precincts to be able to vote in both the Special Election for Clerk of Superior Court and the regular election for Douglasville City Council members.

Voters should consult their precinct cards for their locations or visit www.sos.ga.gov/mvp, enter the requested information and determine their polling place locations.

Voters in four precincts have a new polling place:

• Beulah Elementary School voters will now vote at Beulah Baptist Church (4031 Bankhead Highway)

• Fairplay Middle School voters will now vote at the Day Star Tabernacle Gymnasium (8199 Ga. Hwy. 166)

• Bill Arp Elementary School voters will now vote at Prays Mill Baptist Church Gymnasium (4979 Ga. Hwy. 5)

• Annette Winn Elementary School voters will now vote at Lithia Springs First Baptist Church (3566 Veterans Memorial Highway).

Affected voters should have received revised precinct cards in the mail alerting them to the polling place location changes.
