5 Haunted Houses Sure to Scare You

Want a pre-Halloween fright? Here's a sampler of well-known haunts in the metro area.

For some folks, getting ready for Halloween means decorations and carving pumpkins. For others, it's a good scare.

If that's your preference, here are five of the best-known haunted houses in the metro area.

Netherworld haunted house. Yahoo Shine lists this one first in its list of Top 7 Spookiest Haunted Houses in America.Through Nov. 3. Tickets start at $22. 6624 Dawson Blvd., Norcross. 404-608-2484.

Containment haunted house. Containment is a 25,000 square foot/quarter-mile maze that uses a number of large shipping containers to funnel guests through while giving them a good scare. Through Oct. 31. Tickets $25. 1380 Atlantic Drive N.W., under Atlantic Station. 404-549-5953

Paranoia Haunted House. Its creators promise a "killer time." Through Nov. 2. Tickets start at $20. 608 Holcomb Bridge Road, Roswell. 678-793-1544.

Folklore Haunted House. "You’ll be greeted by creatures who you thought only existed in another world or the afterlife," according to its website. Through Nov. 2. Tickets $22. 1265 Merchants Drive, Dallas.

Creepers Haunted House. This house returns after a five-year hiatus. Through Nov. 2. Tickets $20 (Sun.-Thurs.) and $25 (Saturday-Sunday.)  2781 S. Cobb Drive, Smyrna.
