State Representative for House District 66, (Douglas & Paulding Counties) Representative Kimberly Alexander has been appointed to the Intragovernmental Coordination Committee

After completing her first week in office as the new State Representative for House District 66, (Douglas & Paulding Counties) Representative Kimberly Alexander has been appointed by Speaker of the House David Ralston to the highly important Intragovernmental Coordination Committee of the Georgia House of Representatives. The committee is assigned all local legislation; meaning local bills that primarily affect only one city or county. Every year, hundreds of Georgia’s cities and counties send up bills to the General Assembly requesting changes in the way they can operate locally. Rep. Roger Bruce Elected Chairman, First Formal Douglas County Delegation

Rep. Roger Bruce represents House District 61 and was first elected into the Georgia House of Representatives in 2002.

Members of the first formal Douglas County Delegation have elected Representative Roger Bruce as their chairman. The delegation members are Rep. Roger Bruce (D), Rep. LaDawn Jones (D), Rep. Sharon Beasley-Teague (D), Rep. Kim Alexander (D), Rep. Michael Micah Gravely (R), Rep. Dustin Hightower (R), and Sen. Donzella James (D). Rep. Dugan Dominates in District 30 Race

The Carrollton Republican in his third election in three months defeated Libertarian James Camp to earn the state senate seat.

Mike Dugan, a 20-year Army veteran and local building contractor from Carrollton, will soon be able to add state senator to his résumé. With all precincts reporting, Dugan posted a strong victory against Libertarian James Camp in a special election to determine the next state senator for District 30. Voters in parts of three counties—Paulding, Douglas and Carroll—were able to cast ballots. In Paulding, Dugan took 80.3 percent of the vote by earning 233 votes to Camp’s 57; voters from all four Paulding precincts favored the Republican candidate. The county saw 291 ballots cast out of 24,586 registered voters— a turnout of 1.18 percent. Douglas also was decidedly in Dugan’s corner. Results from the Secretary of State’s office showed that …

Early voting starts today in the State Senate District 30 Race, between Libertarian candidate James Camp and Republican candidate Mike Dugan, in a Jan. 8 special election.

Early voting starts today in the State Senate District 30 Race, between Libertarian candidate James Camp and Republican candidate Mike Dugan, in a Jan. 8 special election to ultimately determine the district’s next senator. In Douglas County at the courthouse on Hospital Drive; in Carroll County you can vote at the County Admin Building on College Street; and in Paulding at the new government complex on U.S. 278. Camp lives just outside of Temple has been employed as a senior IT technician for the past five years with a small IT consulting firm in Carrollton, according to his website.  Dugan is a 20-year Army veteran and local building contractor, according to his website. Maybe the chairman could say a few words of condolences for the Rodney Graham family. Rodney Graham died in the Douglas County jail after denial of doctor prescribed medical treatment. New Absentee Ballot Needed for Jan. 8 Special Election

Voters either 75 years of age and older or physically disabled are required to submit a new absentee ballot application if they would like to vote in the Jan. 8, 2013 Special Election for Senate District 30.

Elections Supervisors in Carroll, Douglas, and Paulding counties are notifying those voters who are either 75 years of age and older or physically disabled that they are required to submit a new absentee ballot application if they would like to vote in the upcoming Jan. 8, 2013 Special Election for Senate District 30. Absentee applications may be obtained by contacting the appropriate elections office or may be downloaded at www.sos.ga.gov.  Voters are encouraged to apply now, the last day to submit an absentee application is Friday, Jan. 4, 2013; no absentee by mail may be issued after this date. Dugan Advances in District 30 Race

Tuesday’s runoff election was to select the Republican nominee for the senate seat impacting Paulding, Carroll and Douglas counties. Voters will head back to the polls next month to determine the district’s next senator.

Residents in Senate District 30 now know who they’ll see on their ballots in a special election next month. After precincts in Paulding, Carroll and Douglas counties had tabulated their votes, it was Mike Dugan, a general contractor from Carrollton, who had prevailed in Tuesday’s runoff to determine the Republican nominee in the District 30 race, according to the Secretary of State’s website. Dugan had 3,606 ballots while 2,857 votes went Bill Hembree, who earlier this year resigned from his reelection bid in House District 67 to pursue the Senate seat. Dugan had 55.8 percent of the vote to Hembree’s 44.2. But the three counties represented in the race were split on the candidates. In Douglas County, Hembree took 1,526 of the 1,894 ballots…
