The only Douglasville Patch high school to make the Georgia High School Association AAAA baseball playoffs saw its season end Saturday when Alexander lost the finale of a best-of-three series at Creekview, 5-2. The Cougars, the No. 3 seed out of Region 5-AAAA, won the first game in Hickory Flat, 10-6, but lost Friday's nightcap, 12-6, for a split that forced the third game Saturday. After one week of no high school baseball, teams will return to the diamond today as the state tournament kicks off. Four area tennis teams will be headed to Marietta Tuesday to try and seal a bid to the state tournament. The four qualifiers from Region 5-AAAA will all make the state tournament and the number of teams left standing in the region tournament currently sits at eight – that number will be trimmed to four by the end of the day.
