Kevin Bohannon, 25 of Douglasville, was arrested on warrants issued by the Special Investigations Division of the Douglas County Sheriff's Department, according to the Sheriff's Facebook page. Bohannon sold marijuana to agents during the month of September. Warrants were taken out on him after agents lost contact with Bohannon and were not able to arrest him at the time the sales were occurring. According to arrest records, Bohannon was arrested on Dec. 1 and is being held in the Douglas County Jail with no bond being offered. In an unrelated case, agents with the Special Investigations …

The Douglas County Sheriff’s Department 16th Citizen’s Law Enforcement Academy graduated Thursday evening, Nov. 8, according to the Sheriff's Facebook page. Douglas County Solicitor General Matthew Krull, delivered an inspiring talk on community involvement. The Sheriff's Department congratulated all of the attendees.
Stop Pacing! A disagreement between two inmates on Monday morning resulted in felony charges for one of them, according to the Douglas County Sheriff's Facebook page. Inmate Everett Newman, 37, became agitated when his roommate wouldn’t stop pacing in the room. Both inmates argued briefly before the victim sat down on his mattress. Newman struck the victim numerous times before pinning him to the ground. Officers rushed in and separated the inmates without further incident. On Sept. 8, The Douglas County Sheriff's office received a report of a theft that took place at 2866 Brook Dr. A large amount of jewelry was taken from the home, according to the Sheriff's Facebook page. The case was assigned to Investigator Matt Gray in the property crimes division. Adam Dawkins of Douglasville has been identified as the suspect in this case and warrants are pending for his arrest. The investigation proved that Dawkins took the stolen jewelry to a local pawn shop and sold a portion of the jewelry to a pawn shop employee. That employee was identified as Olexander Alyeyev of …
Fleeing Inmate Quickly Recaptured An inmate of the Douglas County Jail attempted to escape custody on Wednesday morning as he was returning from court, according to the Douglas County Sheriff's Facebook page. Lamorris Delano Russell, 23 from Atlanta, tried to walk away from officers as they were unloading inmates from the bus. Deputy Liz Graham, a transport officer, was watching the inmates file into the jail when she noticed one inmate running toward the corner of the building. Graham caught up to him, grabbed him and walked him back. Russell’s returned to court on Sept. 20, where his bond …
Douglas County Sheriff's Department cleaned up and improved the 19th century Winn-Watson Cemetery recently, according to the Sheriff's Facebook page. The cemetary is located on North Flat Rock Rd. off Cedar Mountain Rd. in woods behind the Rufus Nicholson farm northwest of Douglasville. Inmates worked with the cemetery committee repairing and restoring headstones, removed leaves and fallen branches.
Inmates of the Douglas County Sheriff's Department cleaned up more than 70 tires that were illegally dumped off of Wood Rd, according to the Sheriff's Facebook page. The tires were disposed of at the landfill recycle center.
Inmate From Another Facility tries to Ditch Pot Travis Williams had just been brought into the Douglas County Jail from another facility, on July 25, when officers noticed the smell of marijuana, according to the Douglas County Sheriff's Facebook page. When a search of nearby inmates started, officers spotted the marijuana in his mouth. Williams attempted to make a run for the toilet and was restrained and the marijuana was recovered. Texas Vehicle Recovered Members of the Douglas County Sheriff's Department's F.I.N.D. Unit spotted a stolen Chevrolet HHR out of Texas and made an arrest, thanks to the department's tag reader. Roy Harlow, 56 from Gastonia, NC, was arrested without incident on June 24, while he was headed back to North Carolina, according to the Sheriff's Facebook page. The vehicle was reported stolen by the San Antonio Police Department on April 19. Several stolen vehicles have been recovered since the department purchased the tag reader, according to the Facebook post. It was with seized drug funds about a …
The Douglas County Sheriff's Department's F.I.N.D. Unit arrested two unidentified suspects during a traffic stop made on Interstate 20 on June 19. A K-9 alerted on the car and the following was found: cocaine, marijuana, 37 stolen/forged checks, a U.S. Treasury check, five fake Social Security cards, and several fake IDs from various states, according to the Sheriff's Facebook page. Subjects in the car were arrested without incident and the case is being investigated by the Douglas County Sheriff's Office and the U.S. Secret Service. Robert Green, 20 of Winston, was charged with felony theft by taking and possession of burglary tools, after being discovered with two air conditioning units in the bed of his pickup truck. Douglas County Sheriff's deputy Myers, with the Sheriff's Crime Suppression Unit, stopped the truck near Bright Star Rd. Due to the recent increase in air conditioning thefts, Myers questioned Green about where the units came from, according to the Sheriff's Facebook Page. Marcellus Britton, 25, was stopped on I-20, by members of the Douglas County Sheriff's Department's F.I.N.D. Unit, and arrested on June 12 for driving with a suspended license. An inventory search of the car revealed 11 pounds of marijuana in the trunk, according to the Sheriff's Facebook page. Investigation showed the marijuana was purchased in the Atlanta Metro area and was destined for Tuscaloosa, AL. On June 15, members of the F.I.N.D. The following warning was on the Douglas County Sheriff's Facebook page: Did you know that many kids abuse cough medicine that contains Dextromethorphan (DX) by eating a boxful or two at a time? This causes a hallucinogenic or alcohol type high. Many of these cough and cold tablets look like candy so the kids call abusing cough medicine "Skittling." They may refer to it as eating "Triple C." Young kids are experimenting with this! Talk to your kids!
Selling Ecstasy, Marijuana to Agents Skilyer Earl, 18, was taken into custody last week, according to the Douglas County Sheriff's Facebook page, for selling MDMA (ecstasy) and marijuana to agents with the Special Investigations Division. The agents received information that Earl was dealing narcotics in Douglas County. Agents were able to arrange a meeting with Earl where he sold marijuana and ecstasy to undercover officers over the course of a 30 day period. Missing Person The Douglas County Sheriff's Department is searching for Jeffery "Scott" Rushing. Rushing is described as a man in his late 40s with brown hair and hazel eyes. His weight is approximately 155 pounds and his height is about five foot eight inches tall. He was last seen in the Highway 5 area, near Alexander High School. 22-Year Sheriff's Veteran Dies Suddenly The Douglas County Sheriff's Department requested, via their Facebook page Monday, to keep the family and friends of Lt. Burglaries Solved The Douglas County Sheriff's Office started receiving a number of burglary and attempted burglary reports in the Annewakee Falls and Trails neighborhood starting on March 26 through April 22. Through a series of investigations by the Douglas County Criminal Investigations division and the efforts and cooperation of the citizens and home owners association the Sheriff's Department was able to make three arrests in connection with the burglaries. Drugs Seized On March 5, members of the Douglas County Sheriff's Department F.I.N.D. Unit made a traffic stop on Interstate-20, near the Carroll County line. Consent to search the vehicle was given and a back pack containing six pounds of Marijuana was found in the back seat. Jamal Blakely of Baconton, GA., was arrested without incident, according to the Sheriff's Department website. Bradford Ellis of Tuscaloosa, AL, resisted arrest and tried to flee on foot.
