The suggestion that Phil Miller has been an absentee sheriff is just ludicrous, just a desperate and baseless late hit on the eve of the election.

I am not sure how Broughton thinks he even has enough information to make such accusations. I've seen you involved with all happenings in Douglas County and feel much safer about living here with you as Sherriff. I know the Peden family, and was heartbroken by what happened. You and your guys were able to apprehend the suspect RIGHT before he would of gotten away, and I'm pretty confident in saying if Broughton would of been Sherriff that guy would probably still be out there. People should not listen to candidates who cannot even pronounce words correctly, or properly introduce themselves to a crowd.

In 1987 I went to work for the Douglas County Sheriff's Office under then Sheriff Earl. D. Lee. The current Sheriff, Phil Miller was working in Detectives and had already proven himself a workhorse and a great Investigator. I learned many things that improved my life and my families life. Phil Miller was always present and available to both the Deputies and to the community. Many times over the years we would work 36, 48, even 72 hours straight on cases because of something that happened in the county. Phil Miller ascended to a command position within the department and I was promoted to various positions as were many young deputies; while it became our job to deal with the day to day tasks; Miller and the command structure continued to be actively involved in those dealings. Phil Miller gave more than support and advise, I have seen Phil Miller out in the middle of the night directing investigations or in the middle of the afternoon, knocking on doors and canvasing neighborhoods with the other deputies. Miller has always followed Earl's Golden rule to treat others the way you would expect to be treated and demonstrated that within the Department, there was no job he would expect us to do, that he would not do himself. When I left the Department I remember meeting with Phil Miller personally, Since I left the Department I have always found him available and accessable. Phil Miller is the only man for the job of Douglas County Sheriff in this election.

Your doing a Fantastic job Sheriff Miller and I hope once the Patch crawls out from under their desk they can explain their comments once they stop with the um ummm but ummmm. I think the Patch should man up with a public apology .

Thank you for your many years of service to the people of Douglas County, Sheriff Miller. As for me I greatly appreciate your professionalism and efforts to maintain a safe quality of life for each and every citizen. I've seen your efforts in action through many of the major situations you described above, and I also know from personal experience how you will come to the aid of citizens when called upon regarding questions of safety even when your plate appears to be as full as can be. Thank you.......and you most certainly have my vote and continued support.

For his opponent to have been asked "tell me about your qualifications to be sheriff" and his answer was "I paid my fee to get qualified" just shows he (Broughton) is SO NOT QUALIFIED. Phil Miller is there, even when we don't see him or hear from him, he's there. He is our sheriff 24/7, doing anything he can to make our county better. Hey Broughton, stop with your rediculous antics and go back to your real job, you know, the one you had before you started running for sheriff, because that's what you'll be doing on Wednesday morning!

It is interesting to hear what people will say to get elected to office and even more so, what they will not. Candidates that are qualified will run on their accomplishments and qualifications. Those trying to get a free ride have nothing of themselves to speak of. I have worked at two different agencies and under three Sheriffs. I have been in and with Douglas County for 17 yrs. I have worked cases with local, state and federal agencies and have been associated with Christian law enforcement groups throughout the United States. I have worked, preached and prayed with thousands of officers from all over this country. I have had great moments of joy during my career and have also felt horrific pain. There are very few constants in a cop's life. That includes leadership. Phil Miller has been constant for over 40 years. I have seen this man laugh and I have seen him cry. What this man brings to the table each day cannot be described or put on a mail out or billboard. It is carried in the hearts and minds of all who have worn the badge. Phil Miller and his staff are envied throughout this state, this region and this nation. You don't see a split among the ranks in Douglas County because there is no question who is “qualified”. Phil Miller “is”, “has been” and “will continue” to be there for his officers and the citizens of Douglas County.

Sheriff Miller not only is a great sheriff, he takes care of his jailers, deputies, & Inv. Plus Sheriff Miller knows my wife and Child personally!!! This man was there for me and the entire DCSO when a great deputy and great friend was killed in the line of duty!!! Sheriff Miller takes his deputies under his wing and takes care of us and family!!!!!!
I do not want this county to turn in to a screwed up Fulton or Clayton counties. If you want to run for sheriff run in Fulton and Clayton you can't screw them up any worse!!!

I have been in the face of death with sheriff Miller on more than one occasion. In the middle of the night, during business hours, in the heat, cold, rain, snow & ice; it didn't matter, he was right there with us, for us!

Mr Broughton has shown me personally how he operates. I received your message during the last election, but you were not elected and you didn't get my job. This was because I spoke out and told one of his supporters that he wasn't qualified. He's done nothing in 4 years to become more qualified. So, I guess I can relax for 4 more years, because your not winning this one either!

Sheriff Miller is one of the most respected law enforcement officials in the area. Thanks to him it is known that if you come to Douglas County to committ your crimes you will be punished which is how it should be. It's easy to stand back and say you want to be sheriff when you have not had to make the hard decisions, anybody can do that. It's another to make the hard decisions repeatedly and want to continue to lead. Miller is not the type to stand back and dictate what he wants done, he will stand beside you and help you make it happen. Thanks to him Douglas county does not appear in the news as much as the other metro area counties. Tomorrow at the polls think about the past before you vote for the future.

Sheriff Miller has always been there for us. I remember the Floods well I woke up that morning to go to work and i was on facebook and seen were friends were posting the roads in the county was washing away.I Knew it was storming bad but did not know it was as bad as it was. so I turned my radio on and the first person i heard was the Sheriff going door to door and he was even going to Walmart to buy life jacket to help rescue people. I don't know how many Sheriffs would have done that but he did. This man cares for everyone in this community

I asked the competitor what he planned to do if elected ( I asked him this face to face) and his response was to bring "first 48" to Douglasville...really??

Phil Miller has my vote!! He does and always has cared about this community. He's a GREAT leader and I'm proud to be in Douglasville. We have the best police dept around and those guys deserve the best!! Miller 2012!!!!!

Sheriff Miller, Thank you for not stooping to Mr. Broughton's level on his mud slinging. He is really trying Obama's trick, but he doesn't have a record to stand on either. Upon reading his blog he didn't even bother to spell check his article and used words improperly. That alone says that he is not thorough or doesn't care. You are a wonderul Sheriff and we all LOVE you. You treat us all like family and are so supportive of all the people you meet. I have always seen you so respectful, honest, loving and caring. You also make the hard calls and decisions. You run one of the best Sheriff's Dept.'s I've ever seen. We are very fortunate to have you as a Sheriff and all of our wonderful deputies. I have worked in a lot of places and had to use the law enforcement officers regularly. Douglas County has the absolute BEST officers. They have Great leadership too. You should not worry at all about Mr. Broughton. He is full of hot air. Maybe when he goes to one of the schools he can learn to spell. LOL. It's this kind of CRAP that makes people lose faith in the system. Broughton is an under-qualified panderer, plain and simple. The citizens of Douglas County deserve better and will be rewarded by the re-election of Sheriff Miller.

Sheriff, you don't have to defend an outstanding record, your record speaks for itself.

We are very thankful that you were elected to be our Sheriff for 4 more years. You have shown great leadership to our community. I grew up in Dekalb County and it is a prime example what can happen to a community with the wrong type of elected officials. Thank You for your dedication to protect my family and the citizens of Douglas County. Broughton needs to stay in Atlanta along with the other Thugs.

Congratulations Sheriff Phil Miller. I slept better last night knowing you would continue leading this county's law enforcement effort. I applaud you for a campaign well run and for not stooping to the level of your opponent.

Rodney Graham's family might have a different opinion of the sheriff. And he's not the only one who died because of denial of medical treatment while in custody at the Douglas County jail.

Bruce, come on, it's over, he won, stop beating that horse, it's dead. The problem was dealt with and procedures changed that needed changing.

A one million dollar pay off that was hushed up and kept quiet from the public until the Sentinel broke the story... and everything is OK?

What makes you think it's over? Do you really think the Graham family attorney will let the sheriff claim he knew nothing about it and so he can walk away?

The ELECTION is over! Why bring this up now, the day after the election?

I'm sure the other issue is not. It's been dealt with and I'm sorry for what happened to them and I'm sure Sheriff Miller is too. I'm sure procedures were changed to prevent it from happening again.

Also, have you ever been in a position of managing hundreds of people? If so, did you know exactly what was happening with every single one of them every moment of every day? I'm sure that answer is no. I was in management and have far fewer people under me than the sheriff has and I assumed they were all following procedures and until there was an issue that needed to be brought to my attention, no, I didn't know what they were doing every minute.
