We at Sam and Rosco’s Restaurant would first like to thank all of our loyal customers through the years. We would like to address our recent health score. This health score is an embarrassment and in no way represents our restaurant in a true light. We would like to encourage everyone to read the description of violation for which we were sighted. Through this health evaluation it was brought to our attention that we did have a food unit that was not holding proper temperature. We immediately called a maintenance person and the problem was resolved. We are thankful that this was noticed.

There were a series of event that happened the day of the inspection that reflected our low score and out of courtesy of our loyal patrons we would like to address those issues and put your mind at ease.
1. Lack of management on duty. Many of our customers know but, a family member passed away suddenly and Rosco and Sam were in North Carolina for a funeral. Thank you for all of the prayers for our family they have been greatly heard and felt.
2. Our servers did have glasses of water and soda in the work area without lids. This issue has been addressed and this will no longer be a problem.
3. At the time of the inspection we had a food truck delivery. The food came in from the delivery driver stacked in an unsafe manner. The food was stored and put away correctly during the site visit.
4. We received numerous violations about our employees having personal items (phones, phone chargers, purses and etc) located in the restaurant. The servers have now been designated a storage area for their personal belongings.
5. There are other issues that were a direct effect of us doing a deep cleaning (including pulling all of our equipment and dry storage food out of the kitchen and scrubbing the floors, walls and equipment itself) of our restaurant the day before. The items had not all been put back in to their correct location at that time.

We have always and will continue to give the best possible service and quality of food to our customers and that is a promise. We were reevaluated 4 days later and received a 100.

Thank you so much Sam and Rosco's, one of my own personal favorite restaurants in Douglasville. You guys clearly understand what outstanding customer service is about as well as what Patch is about. Thanks for responding and using this forum to talk to your customers directly. I, for one, am doubling down for my love of your excellent restaurant.

Thank you John for the kind words. We truly appreciate your support. We want to emphasize to our customers how embarrassed we are to have received this score and we have taken ALL measures to insure that this does not happen again. We have always placed so much of our efforts on insuring a safe and clean enviroment. We will not let those efforts slide however, we now need to pay more attention to the small items as well. I would also like to say that Sam & Rosco's is a quality restaurant, and that what Sam said is correct. I eat there as well frequently, and I happened to be in the restaurant shortly after the death in their family occurred, which was very unexpected. I have seen the kitchen area many times and everything always looks clean and in place. Also, I have dealt with Sam and Rosco for probably 15 years and I know their character, and their pride in the restaurant. They are very hands-on owners and I can assure everyone that this would not have happened except for terrible timing. I will definitely continue to eat there as well. I have eaten at Sam and Roscoe's before also. I am glad that they are correcting the problems that were brought to light during this inspection. I am also glad that the Douglasville Patch publicizes the scores. Since the publics health is at stake, I am glad to know that someone is there to make sure that the code violations are cited. I am still very surprised that the fast food restaurants always score higher than the more expensive restaurants. Maybe there are lessons to be learned here.
