One or More Bank Robbers Still at Large, 3 Charged
Three suspects have already been arrested in the case, two are from Douglasville.
Deputies from the Carroll County Sheriff's Department are still searching for one or more people who they say aided in the robbing of the SunTrust Bank on Highway 61, near Villa Rica, over the weekend. Three suspects have already been arrested in the case, two are from Douglasville.
Anthony Rasul Garrett, 20, of Douglasville and Villa Rica and Curtis Lavert Raiford, 20, of Hampton, have both been charged with armed robbery. Ronald Jabriel Robinson, of Douglasville, is charged with being a party to the crime of armed robbery and obstruction. He is the believed "getaway car" driver.
"We're still looking for one or more suspects who we believe aided in the planning of this," Capt. Jeff Richards said, of the Carroll County Sheriff's Department.
The amount stolen from the bank has not been released.
The suspects fled capture by heading into Douglas County but eventually crashed their car near Post Road. Carroll County deputies captured two men quickly while a third fled into the nearby woods, Richards said.
The third suspect was caught by Douglas County Sheriff's Department Deputy Clint Adams and his K-9 partner Charon, Lt. Michael Barnhill said, of the Douglas County K-9 Unit.
"We also believe this group was part of one prior attempt," he said. "A few weeks ago we think they conspired to commit a robbery of a nearby convenience store but that crime was never committed."
