Navy Vet Robert Norman Roper, 86, Dies

The family will receive friends at the funeral home on today from 1 to 3 p.m. with the funeral service following at 3 p.m. in the Rosehaven Chapel with Rev. Tim Constien and Dr. Thom Shores officiating.

 

Robert Norman Roper, 86 of Douglasville, passed away Tuesday, Feb. 18, at Wellstar Community Hospice, Austell.

Mr. Roper was born in Atlanta in 1926, graduated from Douglas County High School in 1944, served in the U.S. Navy during World War II, and was employed by Georgia Power Company for over 35 years. He was a member of Bright Star United Methodist Church in Douglasville and for many years was an active member of Yaarab Shrine Temple in Atlanta.

He was preceded in death by his parents, James Arthur and Inez Jackson Roper and by his wife, Sarah Wright Roper.

He is survived by his sisters-in-law, Betty Noland and Ruth Wright of Douglasville, GA and by a number of nieces, nephews and cousins.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home on today from 1 to 3 p.m. with the funeral service following at 3 p.m. in the Rosehaven Chapel with Rev. Tim Constien and Dr. Thom Shores officiating. Interment will follow at Rosehaven Memorial Park.
