A Douglas County judge sentenced Shirley McManners to 15 years, with one year to be served in confinement today, according to Andrew Agan, director of Community Relations for the DA's Office.

McManners, 52, was sentenced in the death of 17-year-old Douglas County High School junior Brandy Hart, who was hit by McManners' car right after she got off a school bus in December of 2011.

The accident happened at Dorris Road off Cedar Mountain Road. "Either she didn't see the bus' stop sign, or she ran it," Sheriff Phil Miller said at the time. "She struck the 17-year-old as she was crossing the street and unfortunately killed her."
