Martha Elizabeth Doxey Herring Dies

Memorial Services will be held Saturday, Feb. 4, 2012 at 2 p.m. from Hightower's Memorial Chapel with Rev. Gene Pinnell officiating.

Martha Elizabeth Doxey Herring, 96, of Douglasville, passed away, Jan. 30. She was born April 20, 1915 in Currituck, NC to the late George Doxey and Ethel May Cayton Doxey. She worked as a waitress for many years for the Atlanta Steakhouse and Triangle Café’, and was Baptist by faith.

In addition to her parents, George Doxey and Ethel May Cayton Doxey, she was preceded in death by her husband, Fred Herring, daughter: Gwendolyn Hope Wilson and brother Fleetwood Doxey.

Survivors are her daughter and son-in-law: Vicki and Billy Davis of Douglasville; Pat Lewis of Newington, GA; 18 grandchildren, 34 great grandchildren, 28 great great grandchildren and 1 great, great, great grandchild.

Memorial Services will be held Saturday, Feb. 4, 2012 at 2 p.m. from with Rev. Gene Pinnell officiating.

The family will receive friends, Friday, Feb. 3, 2012 from 5 until 8 p.m. at the funeral home  and Saturday, Feb. 4, from 1 p.m. until the service hour of 2 p.m.

In accordance with her wishes, her body will be cremated.

In lieu of flowers, those desiring to do so may make contributions to the Douglasville Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, 4028 Hwy 5, Douglasville, GA 30135.
