Michael Cory Camp, 22, turned himself into the Douglas County Jail Thursday afternoon after being released from the Atlanta Medical Center. Camp is charged with vehicular homicide and DUI in the head-on collision, on May 2, that killed Zachary Lewis Crenshaw and Matthew Ryan Miller, both 20 years old and from Winston.

At the time of the accident, Camp, a Carrollton resident, was taken by ambulance to the hospital where he was placed in the Intensive Care Unit.

Camp was instructed to turn himself in as soon as he was released from the Atlanta Medical Center, Col. M.O. Harper said, of the Douglas County Sheriff's Department.

The crash occurred around 2 a.m. on Post Rd. near Ephesus Church Rd. A black VW Jetta, driven by Camp, was traveling south on Post Rd. when the vehicle crossed the centerline in a curve and struck a northbound red BMW. Crenshaw was identified as the driver and Miller the passenger of the BMW.

Camp had to be cut out of the vehicle, Harper said.

According to Douglas County Arrest Records, Camp was arrested on May 7 and again Thursday.

The Georgia State Patrol post in Villa Rica and the GSP Specialized Collision Reconstruction Team from Forsyth investigated the crash.
