KDB to Host Recycle Event on April 13

Keep Douglasville Beautiful will host a Douglasville recycling event on April 13 and participated in the Keep Georgia Beautiful Great American Cleanup Kickoff Media Event at the Georgia State Capitol recently.

Keep Douglasville Beautiful will host a Douglasville recycling event on April 13 and participated in the Keep Georgia Beautiful Great American Cleanup Kickoff Media Event at the Georgia State Capitol recently.

“Keep Douglasville Beautiful was excited to be part of the GAC Kickoff Event at the Capitol this year. Executive Director, Chan Weeks and KDB Board Secretary, Julie Camp were in attendance among dozens of other Georgia affiliate directors, board members and volunteers. Joining the Great America Cleanup is a great way for individuals and businesses to get involved in the community.  Keep Douglasville Beautiful will host a Recycling Event on April 13 to kick off GAC locally. Additional events will take place throughout April.”

The recycle event will be held at the First Presbyterian Church overflow parking lot on Saturday, April 13, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Keep Douglasville Beautiful will take nearly anything that plugs in, uses batteries or has metal content! And new to this event, event shoes. All styles welcome, just pair together with rubber band.

Keep Douglasville Beautiful and the City of Douglasville in partnership with NW GA Recycling, Metal Recycling Services and the Douglas County Lions Club will also accept the following items and more for free:

Examples of Accepted Items: Computers, Laptops, Stereos, Radios, Home Audio, Speakers, Printers, Scanners, Fax Machines, Copiers, CRT/LCD Monitors, VCR/DVD Players, Cable TV Boxes, Cell Phones, Pagers, PDAs, LCD/plasma TVs, Hair Dryers, Curling Irons, Game Systems - Nintendo, Sega, Xbox, etc., Large and Small Appliances, Vacuum Cleaners,Air Conditioners, Lawn Mowers, Weed Eaters, Lawn Tools, Exercise Equipment - Treadmills, Ellipticals, etc., Metal Furniture, Wiring, Cables, Electrical Cords, Christmas Lights, Metal Coat Hangers, Engines and Transmissions, Old Car Parts, Lead Acid Batteries (automotive type), Alkaline Batteries - AA, AAA, C, D, etc. Household Fixtures - faucets, electrical switches, etc., Scrap Metal, Eye Glasses, Hearing Aids, SHOES, and practically anything with metal content or that has a cord or uses batteries.

Tube TVs and Computer Monitors will be accepted for a $1 fee for each set.    Projection TVs will be accepted for a $3 fee for each set.

During their trip to the capitol, representatives from the 74 Keep Georgia Beautiful Affiliates, Keep Georgia Beautiful Foundation Executive Director Sarah Visser, Keep Georgia Beautiful Foundation President Kevin Perry.  Plus hundreds of Keep Georgia Beautiful volunteer. Special guests include mascots from across the State.

The Great American Cleanup is the Nation’s largest cleanup event. See displays depicting where the Great American Cleanup will take place this year, how much litter was collected last year, receive free seed packets and learn more about how the Great American Cleanup is making a difference in Georgia.
