Since the topic of missing cats has come up I think it would be a good time to remind those who have cats and live in Douglas County that the rule for cats is the same as it is for dogs. They cannot roam off your property. For some reason people feel cats have to roam free. I have had cats all my life and they have all been indoor and lived to a ripe old age. Keep your cats in your home or on your property or you could get a visit from Animal Control.

Mr. Barker... sorry your sweet cat is missing... I know that hurts your Heart... I hope you find her!
Now to Fran... that was very insensitive of you to say what you said to this post! You should have brought your topic up by its self... it does have merit.

Ms. Vann you need to reread my comment. What I said and it is clearly written was SINCE THE TOPIC OF MISSING CATS HAS COME UP. I did not direct my comment to the owner of the missing cat. As a pet owner who adopts rescue animals I am not "insensitive" to someone losing a pet. Since this was an issue about a cat, I just took the opportunity to address people who allow their cats to roam and brought up the fact that cats are under the same ordinance for roaming as are dogs. It seems that many people are unaware of this fact or just choose to ignore it since I am constantly breaking for people's cats who run out in front of my car all the time in my neighborhood. They must remain on the owners property. That's all I said. As an animal owner and lover I can only hope that this person finds their beloved pet.

Sorry Mr. Barker... I see now that the missing cat is not yours... it should be aimed towards the owner.

Woohoo... Amber is Home... Thank God! I am so glad for you... I hope she doesn't wander off again. It is hard to get over the loss of a pet when they just vanish. I know you are happy she is Home safe!

Fran... I don't need to re-read your comment... I saw exactly what you wrote and I agree with you. I just think you could have been more sensitive... like maybe saying " I'm sorry your cat is lost " before jumping right in to telling people to keep their cats indoors or Animal Control is going to visit. It took until the last sentence of your second post to show compasion to the Owner for Amber being lost. You stated you did not direct your comment to the Owner of the lost Cat and took advantage of the opportunity to address people who let their Cats roam... that's all I had a problem with... this story was about Amber being lost. I agree that Cats should stay where they live but, occasionally they go missing and it a sad thing for the Owner. If you want to teach people what you believe to be right that's great... just be sensitive and you will be heard! My Cat Holi lived to be 17 years old inside... not as a outside Cat. I just rescued a Cat... he is now Micro Chipped and will live as a inside Cat hopefully for just as long!
You've got my vote if you want to be Leader of the Cat Patrol!

Got you beat KV. My indoor cat lived to be 19 another was 18. I don't want to be "leader if the cat patrol" as you sarcastically say. I'm just a person who obeys the county ordinances and wishes others did also. Mia Culpa!!!! Excuse me for being a good citizen of Douglasville.

got you BOTH beat! my cat garfield lived until 23 & died peacefully in his sleep. still ate well, climbed up his stairs to the beds, and used his litter box-had some arthritis in his hips & a good quality of life. believe me, if he'd needed to be put to sleep i would've made that decision. and btw-he was always an inside cat, too! LONG live the kitties!

Wow Debra! 23 years old! That's a tribute to you being a great and loving owner. The oldest cat I heard of was 22. Kudos to you!
