Linsey Strickland, Beulah Elementary School teacher, has been named the Douglas County 2012-2013 Teacher of the Year in a ceremony that concluded just moments ago at the First Baptist Church of Douglasville.

"I became a teacher to show children that they are loved and someone believes in them," she said. "I want to be the teacher guiding students in the right path, and providing them with consistency in their lives, when otherwise it may not exist. I believe that each child has the potential to succeed when provided with the correct amount of love and support."

Strickland was one of four Douglas Elementary School finalists. The other three teachers were Karen Timms, Holly Springs; Cory Bell, Lithia Springs; and Elizabeth Landers, Mason Creek.

The two middle school semi-finalists were Tara Campbell, Chapel Hill and Kathleen Gilreath, Factory Shoals. Campbell was named Douglas County Middle School Teacher of the Year.

The two high school semi-finalists were Connie Highnote, Chapel Hill and D.J. McConnell, Jr., Lithia Springs. McConnell was named Douglas County High School Teacher of the Year.
