Cotton Mill Fire Under Investigation
The investigation into the cause of the fire began Tuesday, by the Douglas County Fire/EMS Department with the aid of the Metro Atlanta Arson Task Force.
The Douglas County Fire/EMS Department poured water on the fire scene Tuesday to drown out remaining hot spots and smoldering fires in the debris of the cotton mill in Douglasville that burned early Saturday morning. A track hoe was brought in to begin tearing down the remaining walls/structures so that the site would be safer for investigators to enter.
The investigation into the cause of the fire began Tuesday, by the Douglas County Fire/EMS Department with the aid of the Metro Atlanta Arson Task Force. The Task Force is a multi-jurisdictional group of fire investigators who aid each other in the investigation of fire sources. This does not mean that arson is suspected. The Task Force is coming in to aid Douglas County since the site is very large and more eyes see more things.

If arson is suspected simply look at who the beneficiary of the mill being destroyed might be. What possible source of the fire could there be excep man made? There is no electricity nor lightening that night. Of course it was someone who set the fire, but the question is: wasit some kids playing in it or some homeless squatters or possibly something more nefarious? If the latter, follow the money to the source of the fire.

So... would have burning it down be cheaper than tearing it down? What county projects are in the works for that area?

There are some very intelligent and very aware people posting.
Isn't this the dilapidated building that was allowed to completely rot while other property owners are cited and fined by code enforcement?
Isn't this selective and unequal enforcement of the law, which is unConstitutional and therefore illegal?
And isn't this part of the property that would be demolished and removed if the Transportation Improvement Act (TIA/TSPLOST) passes July 31, 2012 that we tax ourselves with a 10 year tax so the hwy. in front of this property could be widened?
