Concerts and Free Hot Dogs–What's Better?

Learn about edible plants, rock out to outdoor music, attend a community hot dog cook-out, enjoy a church musical, ride for a good cause and more.

 

Spring Concerts on the Plaza

  • When: Saturday, May 21; 7 p.m.
  • Why go: Get out your dancing shoes and enjoy some great rock ‘n roll courtesy of The Randall Bramblett Band.
  • Price: Free

Community Hot Dog Cookout

  • When: Saturday, May 21; 4 p.m. to 8 p.m.
  • Why go: This tummy-filling (and informational) afternoon is presented by the Libertarian Party of Douglas County in conjunction with their annual meeting. 
  • Price: Free

Butch Adams Memorial Trail Ride

  • When: Saturday, May 21; 8 a.m. registration, 9 a.m. ride
  • Why go: This is a fun opportunity to support a great cause and get outside!  Event features food and music, plus a special demo by the Douglas County Sheriff's K9 Department.
  • Price: Free (Donations accepted to the American Heart Association in honor/memory of Sheriff's Department Captain Butch Adams)

Wild Edibles Hike

  • When: Saturday, May 21; 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.
  • Why go: Learn the basics of identifying, collecting and preparing edible wild plants.  (And learn which plants to avoid!)  This class will cover medicinal uses as well.
  • Price: $5./person; $5./park.
  • More info: There will be a light hike involved, so wear comfortable shoes and insect repellent.  Bring a sack lunch. This program is recommended for ages 6 and older.  Register in advance. Need more detalils?  Call 770-732-5871 or log on to the park’s site.

Senior Adult Musical and Fellowship

  • When: Sunday, May 22; 6 p.m.
  • Why go:  An inspirational, music-filled evening for all ages!
  • Price: Free
