During a public hearing held on June 14, city personnel announced the proposed Fiscal Year 2011-2012 Budgets in the Council Chambers at City Hall. Only a handfull of residents attended the meeting and questioned Karin Callan, the city's finance director. Callan and City Manager Bill Osborne answered questions residents posed while the members of the city council sat in the audience.

Callan emailed Patch an overview of the city's general fund expenses today, which are attached to this article.

The city's police department was the biggest expense, coming in at nearly $10 million. Highways and streets came in at just over $1.5 million.

The proposed budget is on the city council's work session agenda tonight and could be voted on at Monday's regular city council meeting.
