Catherine R. Snelling, 91 of Austell, entered her eternal home on Thursday, Oct. 18, at Presbyterian Village retirement home. She was born Dec. 4, 1920 in Beaver Falls, PA, the daughter of the late Robert W. Gayhart and the late Margaret Gayhart.
She was a faithful wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother who loved and served her family for her entire life. She was married to her husband for sixty-two years. Together they loved to dance and loved music. If the high school band was performing, she was there. She attended countless piano recitals and Barbershop Harmony concerts when not on soccer and softball fields with family. Catherine was a faithful member of First Presbyterian Church, Marietta for thirty years. She also loved her church family.
In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Robert J. Snelling, Jr., and one brother, Robert W. Gayhart, Jr. of Beaver Falls, PA.
She is survived by her two sons, Former State Representative Bob Snelling of Douglasville and Doug Snelling of Hudson, Ohio; two daughters-in-law, Paula Snelling and Sharon Boyer Snelling; five grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends at 1:30 p.m., Friday, Oct. 26, in the parlor of First Presbyterian Church. A Celebration of Life service will be held immediately following at 3 p.m. also at First Presbyterian Church with the Rev. Debbie Wells and the Rev. James Harper officiating.
In consonance with her generous spirit her request was that her body be donated for medical research at Emory University. Messages of condolence may be sent to the family at email@example.com.
