Atlanta's Finest Catering is hosting an upcoming blood drive with the American Red Cross on Wednesday, Jan. 9, from 3 to 8 p.m. at the Rock Inn Café at 7981 Hwy 78 in Winston.

The goal for this drive is to collect 40 pints, which means we will need at least 50-55 people to present to donate blood (to offset possible deferrals for travel, low iron/hematocrit, no-shows, etc.).

January is a critical month for the blood inventory levels, as schools are just re-opening from being on holiday breaks (high schools and colleges account for 20 percent of our overall blood supply), and families are returning from travels. Each pint has the potential to save up to three lives.
